Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

At this time services are private pay (out of pocket) in order to ensure ethical care and to maintain the privacy and agency of those I work with. We provide a super-bill invoice that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Do you accept Medi-Cal, Medi-Care or MedicAID?

I am not able not accept state health plans at this time. If you are in need of free or low-cost care, please review the resources page for some options that may be more accessible.

What is your service fee/rate?

I provide services billed by a private practice at $175 per 50min session. I receive 65% of this fee and the remainder goes to the private practice for operations.

Do you have a sliding-scale/reduced rate?

Yes! I offer need-based fee reductions and services through Open Path at a significantly reduced fee. I also partner with BEAM to for grants covering emergency therapy costs. Please visit my resources page for other low-cost & FREE community-based alternatives.

What is “transdiagnostic” therapy?

Transdiagnostic therapy is therapy addressing the underlying patterns across multiple diagnosis, rather than the symptoms of a single diagnosis. A diagnosis may not be necessary for effective care.

What is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)?

AMFTs have completed a Masters degree approved by the California Board of Behavioral Services and validated their coursework and training prerequisites with the state of California to receive a registration number. Registered AMFTs must pass a Legal and Ethical exam and complete 3000 post-degree experience hours as professional psychotherapists while supervised by licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs). Eligible AMFTs must also pass a clinical exam to become LMFTs.
